So the big question wich one of this console is the best for me? aside from the price difference each console gives the user a diffrent feel, so it actually what you seek in a console that will give you the satisfaction your looking. so to be honest i never had a 2ds but i had held it on hand and i guess that is enought for this analisis to be concrete so lets check this bad boys.
So al 3DS system come from our good old friend the DS, DS lite and DSI, so for the owners of this late consoles the feel and navigation trough all the console will not be so strange and also the organic look and feel of the console is much the same as the DSI system except for the implementation of the 3D, now to be fair the 3D is awsome but the truth is some of the game pull this of better than other as some of them where meant to be played always on 3D, but the fact that u need tu put yourself is the same position during an hour is ludacris, you are always moving and in bot the 3Ds and the XL version the screen wobbles a little bit, that is why even i own the XL sytem i tendo to play in 2D, but maybe you just need to pratice. also your are glad to know that u can play your old cartridges on this system whitout an issue even if the cartriges dont have the same form as the 3d cartridges. I guess one of the biggest changes i noticed between the DSI and the 3DS is that the need of stylus in games and navigation is almost gone, you may only use them in some form as internet navigation or maybe to adjust settings, but even that you can do it with your thumb most of the times.
So to the meat of the trouble.
2DS
So this system is almost the same as the standart 3DS, but obviuosly you can only play in 2D mode instead of the 3D, but from all of the consoles i feel that this one is the most confortable and ergomic, due to the increase in size in the top and the large ''R'' and ''L'' buttons it feels that you can play it for hours whitout getting your fingers sore, but the fact that u can't close it like the others means is more likely that it will hurt the console if anything happens so a hard case is advisable. the screen size and resolution is the same as the 3DS so nothing change it there, the same as the battery charged life, alghout not using 3D will surely give you more hours of fun.
3DS
The 3DS console was the first to be lunched from the now 3 avalible, and it is always spected some minor desing flaws to be found, but this one was a duzzy, one of the main problems is that due to the fact that the top portion of the console closes up and rest in the bottom one, the 2 screen touches each other and the frame from the bottom one soon create 2 vertical lines in the top screen, that without the plastic protector buyed uphand will cause this deffect to be PERMANENT, so take precautions. the other mayor flaw is that the top part is really heavy for the console and this causes the inner craddle to give up at some point, and what it seems a little wobble at first is a mayor pain in the ass 2 years laters, the only way to fix it is to send it to the factory. now for the big nº3 big desing flaw, well this one is actually just a little pain in the ass, is that the overall lenght of the console is smaller than his predecesor the DSI sytem, now this doesn't seem as much a problem but when you paly for 2 hours straight this small change causes your trigger fingers to really hurt as the console is not ergonomically designed, maybe for small asian hand it is but im not a big guy and a lot of the games use the R and L button son yeah, you really need to take a break now and then , the other thing is to buy a large plastic frame designed to help you with this issue. Now that seems like a lot of bashing but the very good 2 things the 3DS has in his favor is: 1) the pocket size, needles to say, charge it up and throw it in your pocket quick and easy and also preatty for when your teacher is coming your way, 2) it really has a sturdy construction, the hole console seem to be like 75% metal and few plastic in comparison to the other 2, so in the event of you dropping it out, it will likely survie better than the other 2.
3DS XL
So the latest and most expesinve of the system, is the XL, now a bigget screen doesn't seem the right awser into espendig 40-50$us more then the standar 3DS, but it really does the trick, a bigger screen seems like having a more HD vison althouth the resolution is the same for all the system, also some games seem to have been designed for the XL version like Monster Hunter Utimated, lacking in dialoge it uses word boxes insted, but i really have trouble reading it in the 3DS, it seemed to pixelated but here is big and i have no trouble. also the XL version fixes all the mayors flaw with the 3DS it has small buttons to avoid screen contact, and hace 2 inner craddles for the supp and also the screem seem lighter for the size of the console far improving craddle life, the bigger size also make it more confortably to play than his smaller sister, but all this weight loss has a prices, the console itself seem more flimsy than his sister, this meaning in case of and accident is more prone to break than the sturdy 3DS, thus buying a metal case is very advisable. this is the one i have and is the one that i liked the most and im happy to have it.
